Portable Nitrogen Analyzer

A battery-powered gas analyzer is supplied with every nitrogen generator to enable intermittent checking of the purity of the nitrogen gas produced by the generator, or at sample points on the sprinkler system.

HCGA-1:

This oxygen analyzer is a wall-mounted transmitter (without local indication) producing a 0 – 5V signal output signal corresponding to 100% to 75% nitrogen in the gas.  This would be wired to the BMS so that the gas quality can be monitored and alarms points set if required. A continuous very small sample gas flow is required from a Holtec HCV-M vent and an 120V power supply is needed. (See link below).

HCGA-2:

This oxygen analyzer is a wall-mounted transmitter (with local indication) producing a 0 – 5V signal output signal corresponding to 100% to 75% nitrogen in the gas.  This would be wired to the BMS so that the gas quality can be monitored and alarms points set if required. A continuous very small sample gas flow is required from a Holtec HCV-M vent and an 110V power supply is needed. (See link below).

Satellite Tank:

This is an 80 gallon vertical receiver mounted with a pressure controlled outlet assembly with local pressure indication. These are used to distribute nitrogen gas in “breathing” pressure cycles to multiple zones at a location remote from the generator. A 120V power supply is required. (see link below).

Wet Sprinkler System Trapped Gas Vents:

These vents are used for releasing trapped gases in wet sprinkler piping during water fill.  Like many commonly found applications in the field of chemical and process engineering, they have two stages of protection in series for increased security and include a simple and totally reliable means of indicating failure. Contact Holtec for more details on this item.

Important Comments on Corrosion Monitoring Equipment, Etc:

Holtec does not recommend the use of permanently installed corrosion monitoring devices once 99% nitrogen has been applied to a system. They are simply not needed, expensive, and can often be a source of false alarms. Holtec started the use of locally generated nitrogen for use in gas pressurized sprinkler systems and is the only company in the business that can show the real evidence from sprinkler systems maintained with 99% nitrogen gas pressure for over seven years in one case and eight in another! In one case the pipe is black steel and in the other case it is galvanized. There is no corrosion monitoring at these sites!
